Promoting Local Businesses in Kyoto's Keihanshichijo Area

Project

I went to Kyoto, Japan in the Keihanshichijo Area.  I worked with three other students to present the cultural significance of the area.  To do this we researched the rise of tourism, interviewed local business owners, and created a website that can be used to educate tourists on each store's cultural and historical significance.

The final project proposal is located here: https://digital.wpi.edu/concern/file_sets/8336h446n?locale=en

Promoting

I went around to all of the locations we interviewed and handed out pamphlets in a three-fold brochure-style print.  This allowed the owners to easily hand it out.  On top of this we had a poster which was given out be posted outside their store as seen in Figure 4.

Map & Photography

To help with promoting I took photos that are on our website and used Photoshop to create the map and icons.  Figure 5 is a map of the Keihanshichijo area.  I then created icons for Figure 6 for businesses such as restaurants, a sake shop, bread shop, tea shop, and a film movie theater.  Figure 7 I created icons for significant cultural and historical areas.
